CALCULATION OF THE RATE OF ENERGY LOSS OF SLOW ELECTRONS BY MEANS OF THE EIGENVALUES OF THE BOLTZMANN OPERATOR.

Abstract

A new method of calculating the slowing-down time of electrons, based on the eigenvalue problem for the Boltzmann collision operator, is developed. The method is formulated for an isotropic electron distribution in a diatomic gas and an initial electron energy below the vibrational threshold. (Author)
