SOME DATA ON VIRUS-CARRYING FLEAS IN AREAS OF TICK-BORNE ENCEPHALITIS AND LYMPHOCYTIC CHORIOMENENGITIS,

Abstract

Investigations were carried out in the forests of the Tomsk and Gur'yev districts in Western Siberia. The flea fauna in the localities is represented by 23 species (12 genera). 1367 fleas were subjected to a virological examination. From the fleas Palaeopsylla sorecis one virus strain of tick-borne encephalitis was isolated, while the fleas collected on red voles (Clethrionomys glareolus) were found to be infected with the virus of lymphocytic choriomenengitis.
