NEURAL MECHANIZMS INVOLVED IN INSTINCTIVE BEHAVIOR.
Abstract
Fear responses were reduced in the pigeon by lesions in the archistriatic region of the forebrain. Pigeons brought up by hand-rearing in isolation from other pigeons subsequently showed sexual responses both to men and to pigeons. Development of fear responses depended on the age at which social contact with parent-substitute was established. (Author)
