VIDICON SCAN CONVERTER AND SUPER BRIGHT RADAR DISPLAY SYSTEM.

Abstract

The report presents a description of the techniques employed in the development of a super bright display system for the ASR-4. Each development phase is discussed in detail with specifications defining the equipments. The investigation was undertaken to determine the feasibility of scan converting polar coordinate radar data using a vidicon technique. The system was developed from background investigations, through the breakboard stages, and finally to a prototype model. This model was approved and installed in the Atlanta Tower, Atlanta, Georgia, for operational evaluation. The results of this operational evaluation are included. (Author)
