ON THE QUESTION OF EPIDEMIOLOGY OF DISEASES OF CRIMEAN HEMORRHAGIC FEVER IN ASTRAKHAN OBLAST,

Abstract

In Astrakhan Oblast, fatal cases with hemorrhagic fever varied considerably during various years: in 1953 - one case out of three, in 1954 four cases out of nine, in 1955 two cases out of eleven, in 1962 seven cases out of thirty two (21.9%), in 1963 four cases out of forty four (9.1%). It appears that such fluctuations of fatality during various years are associated, in the first instance, with insufficiently correct diagnosis of mild forms of hemorrhagic fever in 1953 and 1954. Fatality during the last 11 years amounted to 17.3% (18 cases out of 104). (Author)
