EPIZOOTY OF OMASK HEMORRHAGIC FEVER OF MUSKRATS,

Abstract

During study of Omsk hemorrhagic fever, repeated attempts were made to determine circulation routes of this disease agent in nature. High susceptibility of many small mammals including muskrats, narrow-skulled voles and other rodents, to this infection was demonstrated experimentally. At the same time, antibodies towards virus of Omsk hemorrhagic fever were detected in the body of some animal species. The presence of epizooty among wild animals in the territory of natural foci was revealed and the virus was isolated from muskrats in 1954 and 1955.
