EFFECT OF DISTANCE BETWEEN AN INDICATOR AND ITS CORRESPONDING CONTROL UPON ACTIVATION TIME,

Abstract

The study was designed to determine if variations in the distance between a control and its associated display affected control activation time. The time required to activate toggle switches was measured with control-display separations of 1.27 cm(0.5 in.), 3.81 cm(1.5 in.) and 6.34 cm(2.5 in.). The mean control activation times and their associated standard deviations were not differentially affected by the control-indicator distances used in the study. (Author)
