PARAMETRIC OSCILLATION AND AMPLIFICATION AT OPTICAL FREQUENCIES,

Abstract

The report is based on Soviet open sources published 1962-1966 and one Western source published in 1966. The fourth in a series, the present report summarizes Soviet research on parametric amplification of light. The Introduction presents background information on this research and includes a summary of the five sections in this report. The sections are: I. One-dimensional parametric amplification; II. Two-dimensional parametric amplification; III. Tunable coherent parametric oscillator operating at optical frequencies; IV. Theoretical analysis (A. Derivation of the basic equation and formulation of the boundary conditions; B. Analytical solutions for the transient regime in the cavity in the constant pump field approximation; C. Analytical solutions for the steady-state regime in the cavity; D. Numerical solutions for the transient and steady-state regimes in the cavity); V. Parametric amplification and oscillation in a medium pumped by coherent molecular vibrations excited by SRS. (Author)
