OPTIMUM COSAL COMPUTATION,
Abstract
Starting from basic considerations an optimization technique is developed for a class of problems concerned with overstocking and understocking of spare parts. The cost function under consideration is convex and is based upon parameters of military essentiality cost and cube. An elementary algebra is supplied for the negative binomial distribution. A computer program which effects the subject technique for the IBM 7080 is described in the latter part of the paper, and some general flowcharts are provided. (Author)
