EFFECTS OF BUMPERS ON HIGH VELOCITY PROJECTILE PENETRATION AS APPLICABLE TO SPACE RADIATORS.

Abstract

Preliminary tests were made using the specified 11 mg Mylar particles with velocities of 40,000 to 60,000 ft/sec and 2024 aluminum bumpers and targets. The results indicate that a 5/32-inch bumper is required to stop the particle. A detailed description of the hypervelocity facility is given. (Author)
