CENTER PULL HOOK - LABORATORY EVALUATION.

Abstract

An experimental hook with center pull control was evaluated for force and excursion characteristics and observations were made of an amputee wearing this device. Force and excursion measurements were made on comparable Dorrance Hooks and compared with the center pull hook. The results revealed that the center pull hooks were very similar to the Dorrance Hooks. However, there is some question concerning the off-set position of the hook finger pivot and its relation to the use of the hook by the amputee. Finally, it was felt that an evaluation involving cyclic tests and physical strength should prove valuable in determining merits of this device. (Author)
