SHELL MODEL CALCULATION IN THE CALCIUM-ISOTOPES,

Abstract

Shell model calculations are performed for the calcium isotopes assuming an effective interaction in the 1F sub F/2 exp. N and 1F sub F/2 exp. N-1 2P3/2 configurations. Both binding energies and level schemes are calculated in a least squares fit approach. Good agreement is obtained, particularly in the odd isotopes. The calculation is reproduced with the Surface Delta Interaction with one unknown parameter. The results show that this force is not able to describe the energy spectra and relative binding energies.
