THE EXISTENCE OF HYPERBOLIC EXCITONS.

Abstract

Using a separable model, Duke and Segall have suggested that hyperbolic excitons are unstable and so cannot account for resonance structure in the optical spectra of insulators. Calculations based on a general dispersion model are presented which explicitly exhibit narrow resonances derived from saddle-point edges. (Author)
