SOME STUDIES IN STATISTICAL METEOROLOGY,

Abstract

Some provisional results are given from investigations in various fields of statistical meteorology. The problem of weather types as discriminant functions for meteorological variables has been attacked by cand. real. P. Andersen. The weather types are those introduced by state meteorologist H. Johansen, adapted to West-Norwegian conditions. Andersen has hitherto discussed precipitation and frequency of thunderstorms, and now proceeds to a study of the temperature. His provisional results seem promising and generalisations to other climatic regions may be of considerable interest.
