SEPARATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF ANHYDRIDE-TYPE EPOXY CURING AGENTS AS THEIR TRIMETHYLSILYL DERIVATIVES BY GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY.

Abstract

Liquid and solid anhydrides have found extensive use as curing agents for epoxy resins. A method is described for the derivitization of anhydrides and their subsequent analysis by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC). The procedure is rapid and specific for most of the curing agents examined. The anhydride is refluxed with hexamethyldisilane and the volatile derivatives are separated by GLC on a 1 ft. silicone grease column. (Author)
