NUCLEAR WEAPONS EFFECTS: COMPILATION OF ABSTRACTS.
Abstract
The document consists of abstracts of articles dealing with non-nuclear explosions in or about the Earth, the ensuing shock waves in soils and other continua, and their effects on certain materials and structures. The abstracts are arranged alphabetically by author within each of five sections: I. General (10 entries); II. Energy propagation in solids and liquids (38 entries); III. Shock and blast waves in rocks and soils (33 entries); IV. Shock and blast effects on materials and structures (25 entries); V. Mechanisms of explosion (8 entries). Information includes: applied mechanics, physics of explosions, problems of mechanics, theory of shells and plates, thermal explosion, hypersonic flow, nitromethane, explosions in compressible media, Mach reflection of shock waves, wave propagation in an elastic medium, dynamics of plastic media, investigation of the dynamic stress field of a contact blast in soft ground, similitude of surface waves from detonations in the earth, soil dynamics, soil oscillations from underground explosions, density of seismic energy of explosion-induced ground vibrations, reflection of a spherical shock wave from a free surface in water.
