STUDIES OF ENCEPHALITOZOON INFECTION IN MAN.

Abstract

Encephalitozoon is a small ovoid protozoon parasite commonly found in mice, rats, rabbits and other rodents. Only a few cases of human infection with this parasite have been reported. It is probable, however, that the infection in man may not be so rare as has been supposed, because the clinical diagnosis of the infection is impossible and the detection of the parasite is very difficult. The purpose of the present study is to detect this parasite from human beings who have cerebromeningeal symptons of unknown etiology. (Author)
