INVESTIGATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF MATERIALS, EQUIPMENT, AND TECHNIQUES FOR THE BONDING OF PALLETIZED UNIT LOADS USING ADHESIVES.
Abstract
An investigation was undertaken for the purpose of obtaining an improved adhesive, application equipment, and working instructions for the bonding of palletized unit loads using adhesives. Samples of proprietary adhesives were screened for suitability, particularly with respect to non-tearing bonds and freeze-thaw resistance. Contact was made with companies marketing palletizing glue applicators, multiwall bag flattening equipment, automatic pallet patterning and loading equipment, and equipment which could be converted to palletizing adhesive applicators. A revision of specification JAN-A-136, 'Adhesive, pallatized unit loads', is suggested. Based on the results of the investigation, a palletizing handbook is submitted.
