A SUBSONIC D-REGION PROBE EXPERIMENT USING AN ULTRAVIOLET SOURCE TO PRODUCE IONS AND FREE ELECTRONS,

Abstract

An ultraviolet source for use in a Lower D-region probe experiment has been constructed. The use of this source with an ion collector probe designed by Hale and Hoult is described. It is felt that a lower limit on the order of 107 NO molecules per cm3 could be detected with this experiment. (Author)
