NITROGEN LINES IN THE INFRARED FRAUNHOFER SPECTRUM. THE SOLAR SPECTRUM IN THE 5577 AND 6300 A REGIONS,

Abstract

Content: Identifications of 38 nitrogen lines in the infrared solar spectrum based mainly on new laboratory data and on solar spectra obtained at the Jungfraujoch (Switzerland) by L. Delbouille and G. Roland. Twenty eight of these identifications are new, but four of these are subject to varying degrees of doubt. The maximum excitation potential of nitrogen lines in the solar spectrum is found to be 12.36 e.v. Solar spectra obtained at the Jungfraujoch showing on an expanded intensity scale the <O I> lines at 5577.341 A and 6300.311 A. The half width of the instrumental profile is of 7mA at 5577 and 8 mA at 6300 A. (Author)
