INVESTIGATION OF THE COMPOSITION OF ORGANOSULFUR COMPOUNDS OF KEROSINE-GASOLINE FRACTIONS OF PETROLEUM,

Abstract

Organosulfur compounds included in the composition of the resinous part of the fuels TS-1, DA, and T-1 are represented, basically, by sulfides, derivatives of thiophane, and complicated heteroorganic compounds. Small quantities of mercaptans and disulfides were found. The composition of 'residual sulfur includes chiefly derivatives of thiophane and thiophene, with impurities of certain sulfur- and nitrogen-containing compounds. Organosulfur compounds extracted from the aromatic fraction of fuel TS-1 consist, basically, of aliphatic sulfides, alkylsubstituted thiophanes, and thiophenes. Organosulfur compounds separated from the aromatic fraction of fuel DA are represented basically by sulfides, thiophanes, thiophenes of various structures, and (in small quantity) disulfides. Impurities of mercaptans and sulfoxides are not excluded. The use of the method of infrared spectroscopy in the longwave region holds promise in the investigation of the group of organosulfur compounds which are not determined by chemical methods. (Author)
