STATISTICAL CONTROL OF SAMPLE EXTREMES.

Abstract

Parameters for control charts for normal extremes are derived. Formulas for estimating population mean and standard deviation from sample extremes are developed. These results are applied to an industrial example and shown to give more economical results concurring with those for Shewhart control charts for sample averages and ranges. Tables are given for estimation of parameters. (Author)
