RATES OF EXCHANGE OF SOLVENT MOLECULES WITH PARAMAGNETIC IONS.

Abstract

Rates and mechanisms of solvent exchange reactions with paramagnetic transition metal ions in solution were investigated. Chemical shift and relaxation time techniques were developed and used to investigate the solvation of neutral complexes in mixed solvents. Solvent exchange rates with transition metal ions were derived from the temperature dependence of the O17 relaxation times of the dimethylformamide solvent. (Author)
