FLUORESCENT GLOBULIN FRACTIONS OF PRECIPITATING ANTHRAX ANTISERUM AND THEIR SPECIFIC ACTIVITY,

Abstract

Upon purification of precipitating anthrax antiserum and its globulin fractions with chloroform, their specific activity was not reduced; the quality of preparation became completely transparent and was free of ballast protein. Nonspecific group precipitins were removed from labeled precipitating anthrax antiserum and its gamma-globulin fraction by the method of adsorption on a mixture of anthracoids (15 million - 30 million bacterial cells per ml) during 10-15 minutes at room temperature. Labeled beta- and alpha-globulins are carriers of specific antibodies and can be used for distinguishing anthrax bacilli from soil saprophytes. (Author)
