STUDIES ON THE MANAGEMENT OF SAND RESOURCES. II. NATURAL ENVIRONMENT: TRANSLATED SUMMARY AND TITLES.

Abstract

The papers deal with the geomorphic traits of the typical formation of deserts and the characteristics of the movement of wind-borne sand in the five provinces (regions) of Northwest China and Inner Mongolia in relation to the preparation of geomorphic maps, the distribution of vegetation and its evolutionary transformation, soil formation in sandy regions, climatic change and other related problems. Interesting features revealed by these studies include the abundance of underground water resources beneath the deserts, the large number of lake basins, the modification and improvement of saliniferous soils for practical use, the utilization of available wind energy and the wealth of experience on sand resources management.
