EVALUATION OF A PROTOTYPE UNDERCOUNTER REFRIGERATOR,

Abstract

A prototype undercounter refrigerator, intended to provide convenient food storage and breakout facilities in the submarine galley, was designed and evaluated by the Commissary Research Division. It was found that the performance of the unit was not completely satisfactory because of the possibility of freezing food in the lower compartment. The sanitary features of the cabinet were good. It is recommended that the prototype undercounter unit be redesigned to eliminate freezing of food loads, to provide an ice cube compartment, and a drawer for serving of food from counter height.
