ON A DIRECT METHOD FOR THE SOLUTION OF INTEGRAL EQUATIONS.

Abstract

A series of papers have been devoted to the approximate solution of singular integral equations without regularization. In these papers, to begin with, known direct methods were carried over from regular to singular equations. However, the question of constructing polygonal approximate solutions has been left open until now. In this paper, some investigations into the conditions for applicability and convergence of this method are reported. The applicability of this method to Fredholm equations of the second kind is also considered. (Author)
