STUDY OF A PULSED UNDERWATER SOUND PROJECTOR.

Abstract

The report presents experimental results of the inverse pinch-type discharge, and an analytical scheme for spectrum analyzing pressure traces and some of the results that have been obtained. In particular it is intended to try to gain further insight into the role that magnetohydrodynamic effects play in the pressure waveform and spectral distribution of acoustic energy. The existence of either of two types of electrical discharges is examined in more detail and it is found that a definite correlation exists between the current waveform, the light emitted by the plasma and the shape of the acoustic signal.
