FORK LIFT TRUCK ATTACHMENTS (DRUM HANDLERS),
Abstract
An analysis of fork truck attachments was made and related to applicability for Navy use. Three mechanically operated, single drum handling fork lift truck attachments were tested and evaluated. Each attachment performed satisfactorily in accordance with the manufacturer's claims. All three attachments have specialized usage in the Navy Storage and Materials Handling System. One of the attachments, however, the Universal Drum Arms U-9, appears to have greater application for generalized receiving and storage functions, where the palletization of drums is being made and handled into storage. The results of the evaluation warrant consideration for testing the attachments under actual service use application. This report indicates the application areas wherein the attachment may be advantageously employed and tested. (Author)
