DEVELOPMENT OF AN IMPROVED VEHICLE LIFTING GEAR.

Abstract

A study was made to develop a lightweight hoisting assembly for loading vehicles aboard ships, to test and evaluate various vehicle lifting gear designs in order that recommendations may be made concerning an Improved Vehicle Lifting Gear for Military stevedoring operations. A cradle was developed which was found to have a number of advantages not possessed by loading slings currently in use. Full information on each type of loading sling is presented for individual evaluation.
