NORMAL SOLVABILITY AND THE INDEX OF THE BOUNDARY-VALUE PROBLEM FOR A FIRST-ORDER ELLIPTIC SYSTEM ON AN ORIENTABLE SURFACE WITH A BOUNDARY,

Abstract

The author considers the limit problem for a first-order elliptic system on an orientable surface with a boundary. The Lopatinskii conditions are assumed. It is shown that the system is normally solvable and a formula for the index is obtained. The paper generalizes some results of Vol'pert. (Author)
