APPLICATION TEST OF DRUM CARRIER.
Abstract
Tests were conducted upon a 'Tray-Hart' Drum Carrier, of four, 55 gallon drum capacity, to determine the feasibility, adaptability, efficiency, safety and scope to which the equipment could be utilized in the Navy Storage and Materials Handling System. The 'Tray-Hart' Drum Carrier is recommended for specialized usage wherein palletized handling methods may not be ideally adaptable. For ordinary Navy usage the fork truck-pallet combination is most efficient. The present design of the drum carrier requires design improvements from a mechanical standpoint so that rough handling will not adversely affect its operation.
