OPERATION TEST OF PORTABLE ALL-PURPOSE POWER SAW - 'TRI-SAW'.

Abstract

Field operational tests were made of a portable all-purpose power saw, called 'Tri-Saw', for opening nailed wood type containers. The tests conducted show that the Tri-Saw, when used exclusively for opening nailed wooden containers, is not superior to the currently used nail-puller and/or claw hammer method. It does not show an appreciable advantage in speed of operation, safety features, or salvage of container material. Furthermore, objections to this tool are that it requires maintenance and replacement of worn parts, lacks dependability due to its mechanical complexity, and requires special container layouts to facilitate opening operations.
