A STUDY LEADING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A TROPOSCATTER SIMULATOR.

Abstract

The work during this period was mainly the investigations required for a suitable design plan for the tropo simulator, based on the computer controlled delay network described in the first quarterly report (AD-645 503). A CA3005 RF amplifier was selected for the varilosser element. The delay matrix, to be operated at 15 mhz, will have a total delay range of 1.33 microseconds. The tapped delay line will consist of lengths of RG-174/U cable, compensated where necessary. Preliminary tests on a balanced mixer were made. The programming effort for the simulator continued during this period. The PDP-8 data processor for the simulator was received near the end of this period, and debugging routines for testing the device were started. (Author)
