ANALOG COMPUTER SOLUTION FOR THE DEVELOPED LAMINAR ELECTRIC ARC COLUMN.

Abstract

An analog computer program was developed to help design high power electric arcs as well as to make comparisons between measured and corresponding calculated results based on available transport and thermodynamic data. Information which may be estimated with the help of the computer program includes arc current as a function of electric field strength, temperature distributions, velocity distributions, and radiant power. In addition, any quantity which depends on the above quantities may be estimated. However, the above results may only be applied to the developed region of a cylindrical arc. (Author)
