IGNITION IN HIGH PRESSURE OXYGEN

Abstract

The ignition temperatures of certain materials in oxygen at pressures up to 250 atm. were determined and the influence thereon of gas flowrate, oxygen concentration, heating rate and physical state of material. The materials fell into five groups:- Lubricants including thread sealing compounds; Natural and synthetic rubber hose materials; Polymers; Valve seat materials; Metals and alloys.
