TRANSIENT SIGNAL ANALYSIS BY MEANS OF ORTHONORMAL FUNCTIONS,

Abstract

A preliminary quantitative analysis of transient signals of different amplitudes and durations was performed in an attempt to find a suitable approach to transient signal processing. The transient signals were assumed to fall into certain classes of waveform that can be described roughly by appropriate functions. It was found that a wide range of transient signals of different shapes can be accommodated by an orthonormal filter system based on the criterion of minimum energy in the error signal. (Author)
