RESEARCH STUDY INTO THE NEAR EARTH APPLICATION OF MILLIMETER RADIO WAVES AS APPLIED TO CERTAIN BATTLEFIELD PROBLEMS

Abstract

The report summarizes the work done in developing three broadband millimeter wave components: a mechanical modulator, a tunable bandpass filter, and a second harmonic mixer. All the components were designed to operate throughout the 75-110 GHz frequency region. The ultimate application of these particular components was a tunable radiometer capable of operation through the vicinity of the 94 GHz window. The text describes the techniques used to fabricate the items and gives performance data on the components singly as well as on the completed radiometer assembly.
