INTERACTION BETWEEN NEUTRAL ATOMS AND CRYSTALLINE SURFACES.

Abstract

The work dealt with the observation of the interaction between a neutral molecule or atom and a metal surface. This interaction leads to an attractive force between the surface and the molecule. The force has not heretofore been directly observed; molecular deflections were observed during this project that can only be ascribed to the force in question. (Author)
