AN EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF A TWO DIMENSIONAL TURNING PASSAGE AT M =8.0,

Abstract

The report presents an experimental study of a two-dimensional turning passage designed for a free stream Mach number of 8.0. A row of two blades and two end blocks are combined to form a three passage cascade which is tested at a free stream Reynolds number of 1,500,000 based on the chord length. The blade leading edge bluntness is varied to determine the effect on the overall flow in the blade passages, and in addition, a shock generator is placed upstream of the model to produce a non-uniform free stream flow. The overall effects of these parametric variations on surface pressure distribution, heat transfer, and pressure recovery are obtained for the various test configurations. (Author)
