RESEARCH DATA FROM SHELTER OCCUPANCY EXERCISES

Abstract

The purpose of this project was to collect and analyze habitability data from Civil Defense University Extension Program (CDUEP) school exercises. As initially defined, the data were to include: (1) information related to experimental manipulations, where introduced into the exercises, (2) background information on participating students, and (3) other data related to the occupancy exercises (supplies and equipment, general feelings about the experience, and management data). Two data collection instruments were developed, both self-administering; one for the students and one for the instructor of the course. Procedures were developed for coding this data and entering codes onto punched IBM cards for later transference to magnetic tape for purposes of ultimate storage and analysis. Marginal distributions for student and instructor questionnaire data are exhibited in table form and discussed. Selected cross tabulations are exhibited and discussed. Suggested ideas for future research are listed.
