NOISE CHARACTERISTICS OF A FRICTIONAL FOUR-WAY SERVO VALVE.

Abstract

A four-way, hydraulic, servo valve was evaluated for structureborne noise. It utilized the frictional throttling method developed by MEL. The highest broad-band noise level was 89 acceleration decibels with 37 gallons per minute of 140 Fahrenheit Type 2190-TEP, hydraulic fluid, flowing through the valve at a 1000 pound per square inch pressure drop. Under similar conditions, it was 30 acceleration decibels quieter than a conventional, orificial-type servo valve. (Author)
