STUDY OF INSECTS' ABILITY TO REMAIN ON THE SURFACE OF WATER.

Abstract

The infantry soldier is hampered in crossing swampy areas. A biomechanical approach was undertaken to provide a solution to this problem. A literature search was conducted on the mobility of various insects. The water striders were found to have the most applicable locomotion characteristics for a concept of a device for the foot soldier. (Author)
