AT A HEIGHT OF 1700 METERS,

Abstract

The discovery of stellar associations (the centers of astral formation in the Galaxy) and the advancement of the hypothesis concerning the process of their development, statistical study on the stars and interstellar matter, research on the spectra of stars and nebulae, and a number of other problems were valuable contributions to world astronomical science from the Byurakan Observatory. At present a special radio astronomical base of the observatory (which will be situated 200 meters higher than Byurakan), is being established. Here, at a height of 1,700 meters above sea level, the largest interference radio telescope in the country is being erected.
