INFRARED RAYS IN WARFARE. CHAPTER 7. INSTRUMENTS FOR RECORDING INFRARED RAYS,

Abstract

The paper contains a study of instruments used primarily in radiological warfare for detection of infrared rays. Instruments of this type can be used in the search for enemy infrared projectors and consequently also for the detection of night vision instruments, for the reception of signals transmitted by its infrared projectors for coded infrared communication etc. Instruments with phosphori are simple in construction and have small weight and dimensions. However, they have two essential deficiencies: low sensitivity (they can detect only relatively powerful infrared radiation sources) and the impossibility of identifying the detected radiating targets.
