A MOMENTS METHOD COMPUTER CODE FOR RECONSTRUCTING SCATTERED GAMMA RAY DISTRIBUTIONS,

Abstract

Two computer programs are presented which together are used to reconstruct scattered angular-energy distributions of monoenergetic photons from their moments. The source configuration for the reconstruction is plane monodirectional. The first program, called MOMGEN, calculates first and second order scattering moments, adds them together and subtracts their sum from a set of total scattering moments. The results are moments for third and higher scattering. The second program, called MOMDIS, constructs third and higher order scattering distributions with the moments calculated in MOMGEN. Distributions for first and second order scattering, which do not require moments for their formation, are analytically calculated in MOMDIS. The three distributions are added together to give the distribution for total scattering. These programs are written in FORTRAN II for an IBM 704 computer with a 32 K memory. (Author)
