COLLECT: A PROGRAM FOR THE RETRIEVAL OF GRAMMATICAL INFORMATION FROM ANNOTATED TEXT,

Abstract

A description of a system of computer programs to be used for syntactic analyses of the million-word File of Russian Text with Syntactic Annotations described in RM-5194-RADC. The File consists of sentences, each of which is provided with a dependency structure. To use the COLLECT system, the linguist writes a description of the class of sentences he wishes to examine, and COLLECT edits his request, searches the File, and prints a report. The system is specific for the File of Russian Text but is flexible enough to permit modifications of File information, request terminology, and report format. It is representative of a class of retrieval programs needed for many file-search tasks.
