THEORY OF ELECTRICAL DOMAINS IN SEMICONDUCTORS WITH HOT ELECTRONS,

Abstract

A study was made of the problem relating to the steady motion of electrical domains in a regime of small supercriticality. It is shown that it is possible in principle to have a motion of domains with several different velocities (correspondingly the beat frequency of the current in the load circuit must be observed). Formulae are deduced for the velocity spectrum and for the field distribution and for the density of the charge in the domain. An analysis is also made of the problem relating to the stability of a spatially homogeneous system with a drift nonlinearity relative to 'prime' or 'bare' heterogeneities. (Author)
