THE HELICOPTER - A HARD WORKER,

Abstract

The Mi-6 helicopter is the first turbo-rotor helicopter in the world and is powered by two engines with two turbines each. The possibilities offered by this giant helicopter are unlimited. During one trip, it is capable of delivering into the distant Siberian forest and mountainous regions 8 geologists with personal equipment and instruments simultaneously. On its next trip, it can deliver a tractor, truck and grader necessary for building a road: it may then deliver a heavy diesel electric power station. The role of the helicopter may also greatly increase as one of the media of aerial communication. New turbo-rotor helicopter-buses will be able to provide communication not only between large centers and airfields but will also be in a position to serve passenger lines between regional cities. They will speed up the transportation of people by 3 - 4 times as compared with rail and bus transportation. (Author)
