THE ROCKET OF THE FUTURE,

Abstract

With the launching of the Soviet Cosmic Rocket on January 2 of this year mankind has entered a new era -- the era of interplanetary travel. Man cannot even think that with the aid of a liquid rocket he will be able, within his own life time, to reach even the stars closest to us. The speed of any rocket is determined by the rate of the gas outflow from the rocket. On Photon rockets, it seems to us, artificial light sources will be installed. Calculation shows that an enormous luminous radiation power is needed to produce the necessary reactive thrust of the rocket. The schematic plan of a photon rocket would be as follows: the nose section of the rocket carries observation instruments, radio equipment and a compartment for personnel. (Author)
